Recycling
Don’t be a wish-cycler. Plastic items that are not stamped on the bottom with an approved recycling symbol should be disposed of in the trash bin.
Materials accepted for recycling must be empty, clean and dry. Plastic caps or lids may be left on the empty container. Food or liquid waste left in the container may contaminate the entire recycle bin. These items will be compacted during the sorting process and any contents left inside the container will contaminate other items during the sorting and bailing process.
Plastic food, beverage and cleaner containers with recycling numbers 1 or 2 on the bottom are accepted for recycling in Nassau County Recycling Centers. Your recycling hauler may accept additional types of plastic. Contact your hauler to confirm.
Fernandina Beach City Residents: Advanced Disposal accepts plastic bottles. Contact them for clarification on what is permitted.
Town of Callahan Residents: Meridian Waste accepts plastics #’s 1, 2, 3, 5, 7. Contact them to confirm services.
