Invasive Species – Beach Dune Cleanup
Northeast Florida beaches need your help! We’ve been discovering invasive Russian thistle, also known as tumbleweed has been slowly taking over patches of our beaches. Here’s a great volunteer opportunity to get your hands dirty and help clean up the beaches for other true native plants to flourish. The next removal event is Tuesday August 27 at 9AM.
Meet at Beach Access 35S at the end of Suwanee Ave. Please bring gloves, a bucket, water, hat and wear a long sleeve shirt because the thistle is very prickly. Email activity coordinator Bev at bev.lawrence23@gmail.com if you plan to join.
This is not a Keep Nassau Beautiful event. The event is sponsored by UF/IFAS Nassau County Extension, Natural Resources and Agriculture.
