In the past, only clothing in good condition could be donated, so charities often asked for gently used items only. Today, thanks to advances in textile recycling, even worn or damaged clothing, bedding, towels, window coverings, and footwear can often be reused or repurposed into new products.
Instead of placing these items in the garbage, donate them to local charities or thrift stores—many now accept textiles in any condition (clean and dry). You can also explore consignment shops for gently used brand name clothing, which helps extend the life of your items and supports local businesses.
