Last Castle on the Beach

Join artists Andy Gertler from the Sand Masters TV show, Sue Beatrice from SandSculpt USA, and Amelia Island’s Jennifer Cook in creating sand castles to welcome our 2025 nesting turtles!

A public event, showcasing 3 professional sand carvers, who will carve a sea turtle conservation-themed sand sculpture.

The goal is to not only provide a fun visual experience but to also educate the public on proper beach etiquette in preparation for sea turtle nesting season, which begins on May 1st.  At the end of the event, the public will be invited to work together to level the sculpture to demonstrate returning the beach to the best and safest nesting environment, e.g., filling in holes and leaving the beach flat.

Sand sculpture building will take place from 8 am – 4 pm.

Photo ops of completed project 4:30 pm.

Level & rake beginning at 5:00 pm.

Photo ops of clean and flat after the beach is returned to the proper nesting environment.
